Ferrymead Park
Sir, — I was appalled to read of the Metropolitan Grants Committee decision to recommend that “the councils which contribute to the Ferrymead Trust do not make grants this year.” Such a decision is short-sighted in my opinion, given the enormous value of the activities within the Ferrymead Historic Park in conserving our cultural heritage, providing educational resources, attracting a growing number of tourist dollars to the region and ameliorating at least some part of the social ills accompanying our current unemployment epidemic. Perhaps the committee espouses a balanced budget at local and central Government levels as a cure for our current economic ills. — Yours, etc.,
R. SUTTON. April 20, 1983.
