Sampling the product

Mr Harvey Tripp (left) and Mr Denver Huckett, representatives of Carlton and United Breweries, maker of Foster’s Lager, sample their product in Christchurch yesterday. The two men are in New Zealand as part of a sales promotion of Foster’s Lager. Foster’s was first made in 1887, long before Bazza McKenzie brought a certain notoriety to the brew in a series of movies. At present, Foster’s is sold in 65 countries, is in the top 10 imported beers in the United States, and has a growing market in the Pacific and Europe. Mr Tripp believed there was plenty of scope for lager-type beer in the South Island where drinkers’ tastes were moving towards the lighter beers. Foster’s Lager is marketed throughout New Zealand by Dominion Breweries.
