Care of Children LUKE IS A NINE-YEAR-OLD in need of a foster home. He plays soccer and enjoys activities such as roller skating, bike riding, and going to the movies. Because he has had a difficult early life and has reccently had many changes, Luke is Insecure and unhappy. He needs mature foster parents who will understand and care for him, and at the same time set firm limits. We think Luke would do best In a family where he can be the only child, or In a family with teenagers where he can be the youngest. MY NAME IS DIANNA I AM TEN YEARS OLD and need a long-term foster home. I would like to continue going to Girl Guides and I enjoy reading, watching television, going for bike rides, and roller skating. I need a family that I can grow up in and would like brothers and sisters close to me in age so that we can do things together. Over the past two years a number of children have benefited from the Intensive Foster Care Scheme which provides special supports and payments to families willing to face the challenge of caring for a child who otherwise may not achieve the stability and attachment to a family that he or she needs. • , - ; If you are interested in learning more about Luke, Dianna or the Intensive Fostering Scheme, please phone Judith Kolff or Don Mortensen, Department of Social Welfare, Phone 795-100, in office hours. ■
