New programme for teen-agers
“Viewfinder,” a new cur-rent-affairs programme for teen-agers, will begin tomorrow at 5.30 p.m. on One. The programme will present items from the point of view of senior school pupils and people in their first years away from school.
Items will be filmed around the country, and include a variety of topics from political, legal and consumer issues to music,
films and fashion. Three reporters will front the show — Uelese Pataia, who starred in the awardwinning film, “Sons for the Return Home,” and until recently worked at the Wellington Legal Aid Centre; Phillipa Dann, whose acting interests have led her into theatre and television drama; and David Bindley, a former free-lance journalist and photographer.
The first programme will show how unemployment is affecting school leavers, and take a look at the videogames phenomenon and the by-laws governing their operation. “Viewfinder” will also attempt to answer viewers’ queries, problems and complaints; this week, the School Certificate blues and matinee manners at the cinema.
