The colours of the Girls’ Nautical Training Corps were laid up and the ensign of the Christchurch Sea Cadet Corps was deposited in a service at the Christchurch Cathedral. Sub-Lieutenant L. Ditfort was the colour bearer for the disbanded Training Corps colours, while Lieutenant Commander M. M. Coleman was the flag bearer for the Sea Cadet Corps ensign. The Training Corps disbanded in 1980 and the members then joined either the Sea Cadet Corps or the Sea Rangers.
