Police car rammed
PA Dannevirke A new Dannevirke police patrol car was extensively damaged when it was rammed in the rear by an ambulance caught in a Norsewood road block after being stolen from Hastings on Thursday evening. A sergeant of the Waipukurau police suffered facial injuries as did one of the occupants of the ambulance, which was also badly damaged. Police from Hastings, Waipawa, Waipukurau, and Te Aute followed the ambulance to Norsewood from Te Aute after it was stolen at 8.30 p.m. When the ambulance met a road block set up at Norsewood, it turned up a side steet and skirted round the block, then rammed the rear of the police car and soon afterwards ran into a ditch. Two men were arrested.
