Remand on robbery, assault charges

PA Auckland A man faced robbery, and assault charges involving a .22 calibre rifle when he appeared in the District Court at Auckland yesterday.

Judge G. C. P. A. Wallace remanded Allan Robert Te Wake, aged' 23, unemployed of no fixed abode, in custody without plea on all charges to March 16.

He is charged that on March 6, being armed with a .22 calibre rifle, he robbed two people of food, clothing and cash; and that with

intent to facilitate the robbery by violent means he rendered the couple incapable of resistence. Te Wake is also charged with assaulting a woman with intent to rape, and unlawfully taking a car belonging to the woman. He faces a further charge that, on March 7 at Masterton being armed with a rifle, he assaulted a man with intent to rob him. Te Wake is also charged with attempting to use the rifle with intent to resist arrest.
