School yachties out in force
The secondary schools’ yachting regatta yesterday turned out to be the biggest of its type in the country and probably the biggest yachting occasion on the estuary this year. Conducted from the Mt Pleasant Yacht Club by the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Yachting Association, the regatta attracted entries from 135 yachts. More than 20 schools, from Picton to Timaru, were represented. Conditions were good, and the racing highly competitive. At the end of it all, Christchurch Boys’ High School took first place in the over-all points contest, judged on the top five yachts in three classes. Results were:—
Sunburst: S. Calvert (Aranui H.S.) 1, B. Millner (Cashmere H.S.) 2, C. Etwell (Timaru 8.H.5.) 3. Lasers: M. Milburn
