Canty regains lifesaving title
PA Wellington Gisborne look its first national inter-district surf lifesaving title at Paekakariki Beach, near Wellington. yesterday. Canterbury, after a slow start, regained the 21 Club Trophy for the women's championship. Both were engrossing struggles and the last event, the combined march past, decided the final plaeings. The title-holder Geoff Walker (Canterbury) was an early leader in the Malibu board, until half the field passed him on a wave. Gisborne had a wide range of successes: six-man rescue and resuscitation, march past, beach relay, canoe, and surf ski double. Wellington. Auckland and the title-holder.
