No flurry for Prince
PA Wellington Prince William would not be getting any special treatment in the way of a new nursery when tie stays at Government House in Auckland while Prince Charles and Princess Diana tour the country, said a Government architect yesterday. The only special arrangements for him will be a gate to stop him crawling or falling downstairs and a sink and water heater for his bottles. Prince William will not even get his own room but will share one of the four bedrooms with his nanny who will be separated from him only by a portable screen.
However, the Prince will have some home comforts —
his own cot will be brought out for him. Dr Duncan Joiner. Assistant Government Architect (design) in the Ministry of Works and Development, who looks after both Government Houses, said the redecoration at the house was not being done specially for the Royal visit in April. Government House in Auckland is undergoing redecoration, at a cost of $109,000 as part of an ongoing programme. Downstairs, the main drawing room, dining room, and study were decorated in time for Dame Kiri Te Kanawa’s investiture. The redecoration of the four upstairs bedrooms is hoped to be finished in time for the visit by Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
