Mockers for Heat Rave
Two more bands have been added to this Sunday’s outdoor Heat Rave Festival, which will be held at the Woodford Glen stock car track. The bands are the Mockers, of Wellington, and ECF, a Christchurch band. They join the line-up of Dance Exponents, Hip Singles, the Nares, the Neighbours, the Stones, the Wastrels, Topp
Twins, Central Figures, and Fondue Trout. Mr David Buck, the Christchurch YWCA’s activities coordinator, said that ticket sales to the outdoor festival were “encouraging.” A lot more people were expected to make a decision to go to the festival on the day it was held, the weather being a big factor, he said. The festival will also
feature displays and stalls to provide entertainment for families. The show, organised by the Christchurch YWCA and 3ZM, in conjunction with a promoter, Jim Wilson, is being used to raise funds for this year’s YWCA youth activities. Admission is $4 a ticket from the Christchurch Town Hall, but tickets will also be on sale outside the United
Service Hotel, Cathedral Square, the point where buses will be leaving for the festival. The buses will be leaving the Square from 11 a.m., and returning to Christchurch from 7 p.m. onwards. The gates to the festival site on Doubledays Road, the first turning after the Waimakariri Bridge, will open at 11 a.m., and the first band will begin at 1 p m.
