Socred leader in hospital
PA Wanganui The Social Credit leader, Mr Beetham, in hospital for the second time in a month, is “more anxious” this time about his condition, his wife, Beverley, said last evening. Mr Beetham was admitted to Palmerston North Hospital on Monday after spells of nausea and mild chest pains. His condition was “satisfactory,” Mrs Beetham said.
“He is very tired and doing a lot of sleeping,” she said. “He is not as cheerful as he was the first time he went into hospital (early last month) and is more anxious about the chest pains, but it is only natural to expect the worst-.” The reason for the chest pains is not known, but Mrs Beetham said the results of the tests were expected today.
Mr and Mrs Beetham were due to leave for Taiwan and Hong Kong yesterday.
Mr Beetham’s doctor had earlier given him a clearance to travel, but because he was again feeling unwell, it was decided it would be wise to have further tests.
