General forecast: Mainly fine over the North Island, although becoming cloudy in the west south of Taranaki, with a few showers developing. Rain in Buller clearing. Showers in Westland and Fiordland. Mainly fine elsewhere over the South Island apart from some cloudy areas and a few showers about Foveaux Strait. South-westerlies in many South Island areas spreading into the south of the North Island during the day. District forecasts: Canterbury: Mainly fine and warm. with varying amounts of high cloud; moderate winds tending south-westerly during the

morning, with some low cloud about the coast. Nelson: Fine and mild apart from some showers about the western ranges; variable winds with afternoon sea breezes. Marlborough: Mainly fine and mild, but considerable high cloud at times; moderate variable winds but south-westerlies along the Kaikoura coast. Buller. Westland: Cloudy, with occasional showers clearing during the afternoon; moderate south-west-erlies. Outlook: Some showers likely in Canterbury, Nelson.
