NZPA Pasodena John Riggins thundered through Miami's defence for a record 166 yards and scored the winning touchdown on a 43-yard run in the fourth quarter as. the Washington Redskins beat the_ Dolphins. 27-17. in Super Bowl XVII yesterday. From the start of the play-offs that climaxed a turbulent, strike-
shortened American professional football season. Riggins had demanded the Redskins give him the ball. They did. and the running back was unstoppable. He capped a great play-off performance with a Super Bowl record 38 carries and the games “Most Valuable Player” award It was the Redskins' first Super'Bowl victory.
