New engineer at Twizel
PA Oamaru Mr Bill Bailey, construction engineer on the Upper Waitaki power development, will take over as project engineer from. Mr Max Smith today. Mr Smith, who chose to retire in controversial circumstances last month, will stay on as adviser until the end of February and then go on leave without pay until June 27, when he officially retires. Mr Smith was involved in a dispute with his superiors over the spending of public money on rowing facilities at Lake Ruataniwha, near Twizel.
