Parcel tanker service starting
A Norwegian shipping line will soon start a parcel service to New Zealand and Australia. Odjfell Westfal-Larsen’s first ship on the new service will be the 28,000-tonne Brimanger, which is expected in New Zealand for the first time in March. She would probably call at Lyttelton. Tauranga. Auckland, and possibly Napier on her first voyage, said a P. and 0. spokesman. Parcel tankers are specialised ships for carrying liquid cargoes such as chemicals and vegetable oils. Each ship can carry several different cargoes on the same voyage. Odjfell Westfal-Larsen has one of the world's largest parcel tanker fleets, with more than 32 ships. Its new service will come to New Zealand and Australia from Europe.and North America. ■ the Norwegian shipping line is beginning the new service after a decision from the present parcel tanker operators from Europe and North America — Stolt-Nielsen of Norway and Panocean-Ance of Britain — to merge their fleets The Brimanger has 43 separ ate cargo tanks.
