Refusal for hairdresser

A Christchurch haidresser, Mrs K. S. Horgan, has again been refused permission to employ an apprentice. Last year, the Canterbury and Westland Ladies’ Hairdressing Industry Apprenticeship Committee ruled that she was ineligible. Mrs Horgan appealed to the Arbitration Court in November, and the Court referred the case back to the committee, so that it could take into account the result of a trade certificate

examination sat by Mrs Horgan. She said last evening that she had been told that she had failed, although she had not yet received the official result. The committee had ruled this week that she was ineligible to employ an apprentice because of insufficient recent hairdressing experience. Mrs Horgan said that she intended to appeal to the Arbitration Court again. The ■ right to reappeal was given to her by the Court last November.
