$80,000 for filly
A filly by the boom sire, Sir Tristram, was bought for $BO,OOO soon after she was passed in at $60,000 at the Daigety New. Zealand Yearing Sale in Hamilton on Sunday. The purchaser was Mr Don Gordon, a Hastings ownerbreeder. The attractive bay filly comes from a prolific winning female line. She is a sister of the good race mare, Pride of Rosewood, and a half-sister to Gaiter and Hello Sailor, which between them have won 10 races. Her dam. Clandara, by Sobig, is a winning daughter of the former champion two and three-year-old filly of her time, Challen, which is by Ruthless from Golden Climax.
A bay colt by Sil; Tristram and a bay colt by Le Fripon shared the next highest price of the day of $25,000.. The Sir Tristram colt was also bought outside the ring by a New South Wales studmaster, Mr F. D. Phillips. Sold on behalf of the Repotane Stud, Hamilton, the property of Mr M. J. O’Donnell, the colt is the third foal of the unraced Stunning mare Soanotalu. . The colt by Le Fripon was sold on account of the Roselea Stud, Marton, and went to the bid of a leading Malaysian trainer, Teh Choonßeng. From the unraced Zebra mare, Maximarch, he is a brother to the top galloper, Jon, and also to the winners, Mayo Three and Haon.
