Yacht towed into Picton
The 12m yacht Whirlwind, which was taken in tow in Cook Strait on Wednesday evening, was finally towed into Picton about 7 p.m. on Thursday. The yacht got into difficulties in heavy seas and was taken in tow bv a Wellington fishing boat, the Intrepid. . After battling heavy seas since leaving Napier last Monday the family aboard. Dennis and Ursula George and their two daughters, asked for a tow because they were suffering from severe seasickness.
The Intrepid had intended to tow the Whirlwind to Needles Point, near Ward, on Thursday.
