Gambling
Sir,—Joining a queue at Addington last night I found three small boys collecting
ahead of me. When the last one collected I asked his age. He replied, “nine”; and looked the part. Where is our country going when small kids are allowed to gamble on horses?— Yours, etc., R. J. OLIVER. January 4, 1983. Add letters add gamblingOliver.
[Presumably the children are going where their elders have already been. The Racing Act forbids betting by persons under the age of 18; it sets no restriction on the age of persons collecting dividends — Editor.]
