‘Rebel’ tour cancelled
NZPA Johannesburg The president of the South African Cricket Union. Joe Pamensky. announced yesterday that a tour of South Africa by test-class cricketers had been cancelled because some of the plavers had withdrawn after reports of the impending tour had been leaked to the press. He said that not enough
test-class players remained to put up a creditable showing against the South African national side and therefore all players had been released from their contracts. A Johannesburg daily, the "Citizen." reported earlier yesterday that at least 10 West Indian cricketers, seven of them former test players, were ready to come to South Africa for a sanction-break-ing tour.
