N.Z. Steel names bids

PA Wellington New Zealand Steel, Ltd, has chosen five overseas companies to bid for construction of rolling mill plant for its second development stage, the company announced yesterday. The five are Davy McKee (Sheffield), Ltd, of Britain, Mannesmann Demag Sack GMBH, of Germany, Schloe-mann-Siemag Aktiengesellschaft, of Germany, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd, of Japan, and Ishi-kawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd, of Japan.

The five were chosen after a “comprenhensive pre-quali-fication process,” and New Zealand manufacturing, contracting, and engineering associations had been told, N.Z. Steel sa|d.
