Public Works Bill change
PA YVellington Land not required for public works will not automatically be sold back to the former owner as of right, the Government has announced. The Minister of Works. Mr Friedlander, said during the second reading of the Public Works Amendment Bill that he would move an amendment during the committee stages to change the present provision.
If there had been a significant change in the character of the land, or if the Commissioner of Works considered it impracticable, unrea-'. sonable. or unfair to sell it back, the former owner' would not have the opportun-. ity to buy it. Mr Friedlander said that the change had been made . after representations by the. Public Service Association.
