Rheem 56 p.c. ahead
PA Auckland Rheem N.Z.. Ltd, increased its unaudited after-tax profit 56 per cent to $514,000 in the November 30 half-year. The result was achieved on sales 9 per cent higher at $11,692,000. Tax took 73 per cent more at $463,000. An extraordinary item reduced earnings by's2o,ooo to $494,000. The directors say the result shows a satisfactory return to the level of previous years, after a lower result in 1981, with all divisions contributing to the improvement. They add that, although the year has started well having regard to the pricewage freeze and the general economic climate, they do not expect results for the second half to match those for the first half. An interim dividend of 3.33 c a share (6.66 per cent), the maximum permitted under the distribution regulations, is payable on February 11, absorbing $156,000. Last year's interim was 3.5 c.
