Parent company wound up
PA Auckland The parent company of the Southern Cross Coin Centre, in which investors are reported to have lost more than $lOO,OOO. has been wound up by the High Court at Auckland. An order has been made by Mr Justice Vautier for the winding up of Southern Cross Commodities Futures, Ltd. which is the parent company of the Christchurch gold and silver dealing agency which closed last week. The Official Assignee has been appointed provisional liquidator of the company. An officer in the Official
Assignee's office said yesterday that no date had yet been set for a meeting of creditors of Southern Cross Commodities Futures Ltd. Company files were being awaited from Christchurch, said the officer. A creditors' petition heard in the court at Auckland claimed a debt of $4092. The main creditor listed was supported by three others. It was reported this week that New Zealand investors had lost more than $lOO,OOO with the closing of the Christchurch shop, a subsidiary of the Auckland firm, which is Australian-owned.
