Dead couple named
PA Wellington The couple drowned when their car was swept by floodwater into a stream at Pauatahanui, north of Wellington., on Saturday night were Alfred Charles McCarthy,aged 64, and his wife Ethel May McCarthy, aged 60. of Raumati Beach. The police said the couple's car appeared to have stalled in floodwaters. The force of the flood is thought to have carried the car from the road into the stream.
