Hayes heads rankings
Hod Hayes, at present competing on the British tournament circuit, heads the Canterbury squash rankings for the sixth year in a row while Joanne Milne, who was previously studying at Otago I niversity. is the top woman for the first time. Both Hayes and Miss Milne had a good tournament year in New Zealand and ended up in the same place. No. 3. in their respective national ranking lists. One of the biggest advances has been made bv Mark Crosbie. up from No. 8
to No. 3 during a year in which he made the last eight in the world junior championships at Kuala Lumpur and finished runner-up to Whakatane’s Tony Fuller in the New Zealand junior open. Among the women another young player. Adele Ellery, a former West Coaster, has also progressed well, up to the No. 5 position. The Canterbury representative selectors (Messrs Les Milne, convener, and Doug Lawrie, and Mrs Merle Hollandt did not consider last year's top woman. Philippa
