Ocean dumping
The Dutch Government has said that it will halt ocean-dumping of radioactive waste and switch to land storage instead for the next 10 years. The Environment Minister. Mr Piet Winsemius, told a news conference that an industrial site in the west coast town of Velsen had been chosen as a storage site, and appealed to local authorities and environmental groups like Greenpeace to support the decision. — The Hague.
