Two centuries by women
Two centuries were scored in women’s cricket on Saturday. The Svdenham senior captain, Nicki turner, made 150 and the St Albans third grade player, Robin Bovce, was undefeated on 128. On a good batting pitch at Sydenham Park, the home side declared at 299/3. Turner was well supported by Nancy Williams (51 not out) and Mary Campbell (34 not out). In reply, St Albans was 82 for three at stumps, with Ann McKenna 45 not out.
In the other senior game, Lancaster Park was in trouble at 7/3, but Debbie Hockley (57) and Vivienne Cowles (28) pulled the innings round and Park reached 145. However. Riccarton was well placed at 108 for two at stumps. Scores:— Senior Sydenham 299/3 (N. Turner 150, N. Williams 51 not out, M. Campbell 34 not out; C. Campbell 2/76) met St Albans 82/3 (A. Thompson 2/47)
beat Merivale-Papanui 168 and 100/7 (N. Thompson 48 not out, V. Brown 2/24; D. Sherriff 3/28) on . the first innings. St Albans 167 (E. Burtt 74 not out; P. Booth 33/52. J. Robertson 3/29. and 48/2 (L. O'Malley 25) beat New Brighton 89 and 119 (R. Dalkie 39. C. Kent 24; E. Burtt 4/ 36) outright. Second grade Merivale-Papanui 86 (T. Arahunga 2/9, J. Anderson 3/17, P. Stevenson 4/9) beat St Albans 84 (P. Stevenson 24; K. Le
Comber 2/22, R. Clarke 3/19. D. Smith 2/25, J. Godman 3/8). Lancaster Park 102/5 (S. Day 40. S. McKendry 31 not out; J. Amour 3/20) beat Riccarton 98/6 (V. Choat 20, A. Stewart 26; J. Amour 24 not out, T. Churton 2/ 18). Third grade St Albans A 183/0 (R. Boyce 128 not out. S. Whitter 55 not out) beat Sydenham 22 (R. Boyce 5/3. C. Maw 4/3). . New Brighton beat St Albans B by default.
