Reagan telegram for heart man
NZPA Salt Lake City The mechanical heart recipient. Dr Barney Clark, received a telegram from President Ronald Reagan yesterday and gave his doctors more, evidence of recovery by complaining about the way nurses brushed his teeth. Mr Reagan and his wife. Nancy said that Dr Clark had given everyone a great lesson in faith" in the week since he became the first person to receive a permanent plastic heart. While not fully conscious, Dr Clark’s recognition and response to nurses and others in his intensive-care room was improving. Nurses “were brushing his teeth this morning and he wanted it done again, indP eating that it wasn’t done to his satisfaction, which I guess is a good sign," said Dr Chase Peterson.
