Officers for tourism
Parliamentary reporter Two liaison officers are to be appointed to the Canterbury region to help develop, the tourism industry, the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Tab bot, told Parliament yesterday. Mr Talbot said that the two officers would be appointed under the. recently formed regional tourism advisory scheme. There were also financial incentives to encourage tourism in Canter-

Mr Talbot said that the .Tourist ..and Publicity ■ Departments-', had worked closely with the private sec- . tor. airlines; and tour operators to promote South Island tourism overseas. One example was a $750,000 pro- .. motion in Australia of South Island ' ski-ing. Which had been undertaken with Air New Zealand and Qantas.
