Northern jockey engaged for Anticipate at Riccarton
By
J. J. BOYLE
The North Island jockey. Phillip Smith, has been engaged to ride Anticipate in the Bryndwr Handicap, second leg of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s T.A.B. double tomorrow. Anticipate is one of the top fancies for the 1600 m race. He has won twice from John Bourne's Riccarton stable on his home course this season. At his last start he was successful over 1800 m at the New Zealand Cup meeting. Auditory, a stablemate of Joyarty, is an unlikely runner in the D.B. Galaxy Stakes, first leg of tomorrow's T.A.B. double, and an alternative ride for Jim
Collett seems unlikely. Fleet Princess was scratched yesterday from the Kaituna Maiden, first leg of the T.A.B. treble. Just From Santa,- Silver Shar, and Buster McCoy were taken out of the field for the Amuri Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. treble. Silver Shar was a double acceptor, and will run in the Leeston Handicap.
