Addington market
Another big yarding of 16.966 store lambs faced buyers at the Addington market ' yesterday. Last week. 17.623 lambs were offered. The market generally remained similar to last ’ week, although the value of light lambs tended to ease. Considering the big yarding and lack of surplus feed in Canterbury, the sale was satisfactory.
The best lambs exceeded $l6 and many sales of heavy lambs were made at $l5 or more. Good lambs sold from $ll to $l3 and small healthy lambs were $6 to $9. with a few pens of poor lambs under $5. The quality of the market was slightly better than last week and there was a good selection of medium lambs. Black-faced lambs were in strong demand. Almost half the yarding came from the Marlborough area. Some of the pelts on these lambs were infested with barley grass seeds which caused a small reduction in value. Seedy pelts are downgraded at the freezingworks. Adult sheep met with a very limited inquiry and the marke't remained depressed. Several sales of light, shorn old ewes were made at $1 and $2. Woolly ewes sold to $7. barely wool value, and wether hoggets made to $lO. Little interest was shown in
two-tooths. Sales included a line of shorn Borderdale cross at $17.80. Romneys at $17.40 and Perendales at $14.70. Sales included:— Wether iambs: L. A. Campbell fMotunau), 155 Corriedales, at $l2: J.
