Modern gear aid survey

The latest recording equipment has enabled the survey vessel Western Odyssey to complete the first half of a seismic survey of the offshore area from Banks Peninsula to Otago Peninsula well ahead of schedule. The entire 6000 km survey was expected to take until February, but it is now likely to be completed by the end of the year. The vessel, which has been contracted by BP. Shell Todd (Canterbury) Services, Ltd, visited Timaru this week for a crew change. Data processed from recordings taken during the survey will be sent overseas foT detailed analysis, which could take up to two months.
