Strong southern hand in Galaxy at Riccarton

Joyarty, The Dimple, and Queen's Pal will spearhead a strong southern challenge in the D.B. Galaxy Stakes, first leg of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s T.A.B. double at Riccarton on Friday. Their combined efforts should give females a tenacious grip on the weight-for-age 2000 m race. Joyarty and The Dimple will be on trial for rich North Island summer races, including the $150,000 D.B. Auckland Cup. Last year The Dimple's half-sister and stablemate, The Twinkle, won the D.B. Galaxy at Riccarton before going on to win the King’s Plate and running second in the Auckland Cup at Ellerslie. Fourteen of the original entry of 15 make up the field for the D.B. Galaxy. The Bryndwr Handicap, an all classes 1600 m race, will be the second leg of Friday’s T.A.B. double. The T.A.B. treble will be on the Kaituna Maiden and the Amuri and Ranfurly Shield Handicaps.
