FM. station in deal with Radio N.Z.
PA Wellington Metropolitan FM — one of two companies warranted for frequency modulation broadcasting in Auckland — is to join forces with Radio New Zealand for sales purposes, it has announced. The joint managing director of Metro-FM, Mr Trevor Egerton, said the move would give his company representation with national clients and advertising agencies on both sides of the Tasman. “This breaks with the tradition for private stations to use privately-owned advertising representative companies in seeking revenue nationally," he said in a statement. Radio New Zealand’s director-general, Mr Geoffrey Whitehead, said the affiliation showed how the public radio system could help develop strong radio services.
Mr Egerton said MetroFM hoped to be on the air next March.
