Ban off
The school cleaning ban was lifted after talks late last evening. The New Plymouth High Schools’ Board said it would accept a ruling from the industrial mediator, Mr Tom Groves. The board secretary, Mr Bob Bowler, said the dispute had escalated far more than was necessary. “The board feels that in the interests of those schools' that have been unjustly affected we should agree to go into mediation.” The secretary of the Cleaners’ Union, Mr Pat Kelly, said it would be some days before the parties met Mr Groves.
