Engine failure mystery
PA Wellington Mystery surrounds the reason for an engine failure which forced a helicopter pilot to ditch in Cook Strait. Air accident investigators said that they had been unable to determine the reason for the failure which happened on a flight from Masterton to Blenheim in March. The pilot, aged 39. was rescued from the sea 40 minutes after the crash, but the wreckage of the hired Hughes 369 D helicopter has not been found.
