PA Wellington A close encounter between the Cook Strait rail ferry Aratika and a fishing vessel in Wellington Harbour on November 23 was not a “near collision,” said the Wellington Harbour Board The board’s general manager, Mr James Stewart, released the results of an investigation carried out by the Wellington Harbourmaster, Captain William Galloway. Mr Stewart said that neither the master of the Aratika nor the skipper of the fishing boat Aquilla acted in contravention of the “rule of the road” at sea and neither ship was in danger at any time.
