Successful debut

The Rollerland Amateur Skating Club is destined for a successful existence, judging by the efforts of its members at the South Island roller skating championships in Dunedin. Formed only five months ago. the Christchurch club won four titles, and 19 awards over all. to finish fourth on the points table. The fledgling club sent 21 skaters to Dunedin, and the most successful was Margaret Bray, who won the junior girls’ 400 m and 800 m

speed events and the road race. Rollerland’s other title was gained by Andrew Colville and Leanna Rushton. in the junior freeskating pairs. Karen James and Marianne Maslin were other artistic competitors to gain places, and among the speed skaters Julian Litt, Graham Lunn, Philip Robinson, Geoffrey Boyd and Graeme Litt accumulated several seconds and thirds in finals. In addition, the club was placed in three relays.
