War memorials

. Sir,—Graeme Smith (November 23) wants some monuments dedicated to the future. How can we do this? There has not been anyone since Nostradamus who could predict the future. All we can do is dedicate monuments to those who unselfishly fought for our future. New Zealand can only feel remorse and pathos for their men who died in distant lands by the provision of monuments. We do not want history repeating itself in such a destructive fashion. “Lest we forget.”— Yours, etc., R. U. ANDERSON. November 23, 1982.
