Society’s appeal may raise $12,000
Organisers of the -fundraising week for the Multiple Sclerosis. Society of Canterbury expect to bank a total of $12,000. A “carnation day" yesterday, where .people giving to the cause ’ were presented with carnations, raisedabout $BOOO and was described by the director of the society, Mr Barry Hawkins as a huge success; c... >. Another Successful activity was a luncheon held "ion Wednesday. Mr Hawkins said that this lhad been a “sell out” and raised about $l5OO. The- film, “Tribute,”' will have ; its South Island premiere at the Academy Cinema tomorrow. Tickets for . the film, which stars Jack Lemon and Lee Remmick, will -. cost $4.50 and t .the society will serve afternoon tea during the interval. The film was to be screened last week-end but was postponed because of the Farmers procession. ?
