Christmas appeal

A report in “The Press” of November 24 that last year’s National Council of Churches Christmas appeal raised more than $500,000, more than half of which was used for overseas aid, was incorrect. In fact, $441,000 was raised, with 82 per cent of it allocated to aid and development projects, 7 per cent spent on development education in New Zealand, and the remaining 11 per cent absorbed in general expenses. The target for this year’s appeal is $500,000.
