Burnham improves in Ellesmere cricket

Burnham A showed a hint of its potential when it took first innings points against Springston in the Ellesmere Cricket Association’s competition on Saturday. With its bowlers well-sup-ported by the fieldsmen and its batsmen showing confidence, Burnham served notice that- it was ready to leave its previous mediocre performances in the past. ' . ■<' ~

A Burnham bowler, Alan Wall, was the outstanding player, taking seven wickets for 44 in Springston’s first innings. The competition leader, Tai Tapu, faltered briefly when allowing a struggling Dunsandel to plunder its fowling. However, Tai Tapu did the same to the Dunsandel attack and it finished the day in a strong position. Bob Davidson (Dunsandel) scored a fine 95.

In other matches, Lincoln High School, had the better of Leeston, Southbridge A was in command against its B team, and Burnham B, although giving its best display of the season, was in trouble against Weedons. Scores:—
