John Edmond Holdings, Ltd, the Dunedin-based hardware and timber merchant, increased its unaudited group net profit a marginal 4.2 per cent to $551,000 in the six months to September 30, the directors reported yesterday. wholly-owned, and Naseby Timber Company, Ltd, from April 19, were included in the result. Sales rose 20.6 per cent to $18,770,000, and the tax provision increased $16,000 to $449,000. An interim dividend of 7c a share (7 per cent) has been declared, the maximum permitted under the' present dividend freeze. Last year the interim dividend was 8c a share. The dividend is payable on December 8, ex dividend on November 26, and 4.9 c a share of it is tax-free.
