Haast bridge
The Gates of Haast bridge 9.4 km on the West Coast side of the Haast Pass, will be closed at night between December 12 and 24 to enable strengthening work to be done.
The bridge will be closed between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. while the Ministry of Works and Development repairs damage caused by floods three years ago. A new span will be added at the Haast end of the bridge and new concrete cylinders installed to support the new span and the existing truss.
