Irish kidnap girls released
NZPA-Reuter Belfast The daughters of two Irish bank managers were found safe and well in Northern Ireland yesterday after being kidnapped by gunmen on their way to school.
Margaret Donnelly and Lynne Regan, both 16. were found at Tellydonnell, 3km from the border with the Irish Republic after telephoning their parents on their release. They were snatched at gunpoint by masked men
while being driven to school just south of the border by Margaret’s father. The kidnappers told him to collect 1140,000 ($94,000) from his bank and await instructions. But Northern Irish police officers said that no ransom
1 had been paid. It was not ■ immediately clear why the ? girls were released. The Irish Republican i Army and the Irish National - Liberation Army, both fighting to end British rule in i Northern Ireland, denied kidi napping the girls.
