Women’s golf tourney

Senior and junior champions, and junior runners-up of women’s golf clubs in Canterbury will meet at Russley on Monday to compete for a rosebowl. This tournament replaces the former Peter Stuyvesant event. No account is taken of handicaps; it is an inter-club event, with the stableford points scored by each player over the 36 holes being added.

All the senior champions are expected to compete, except Cushla Sullivan (Christchurch). Miss Sullivan, who recently won the champion-of-champions event by a record 20 strokes, is not available. The Christchurch representative will be Nan Mann. Mrs Mann, a former Canterbury Russell Grace player, was narrowly beaten by Miss Sullivan in a fine Christchurch final.
