Professionals told to resign
Professional licenceholders who in the past three months have been elected stewards of trotting clubs have been told by the Trotting Conference to resign their positions. Professional persons became eligible for election to positions on club committees as a result of a remit sponsored by the Ashburton club at the annual meeting of the
conference held in Dunedin last July. However, it has now been discovered that another rule, which should have been rescinded, is still in force and this prevents persons holding professional licences from holding office on club committees. The few licence-holders could find that their licences are void unless they resign
immediately. Among those affected are Stuart Allcock, of Waikouaiti, Frank Bebbington, of Ashburton, lan Hunter, of Cambridge, and Bob Nyhan, of Rangiora. All are understood to have resigned. The conference is expected to remedy the situation at a special meeting to be held in Nelson towards the end of January.
