Summer ‘official’
Kenneth Marriott, aged 11, left Ricky Morrison, aged 11, centre and Toni Wright, aged nine, tussle for a ball at the opening of the Centennial Pool on Saturday. About 400 people turned up for a free fun day at the pool, which was the first of Christchurch’s outdoor public swimming pools to open for the summer. The crowd enjoyed various activities, including novelty relays, barbecues, a synchronised swimming demonstration, and the use of the Queen Eliabeth II Park pool’s raft.
